Unveiling the myth of time: carving out moments for your well-being

Discover the power of daily movement for a healthier you. This blog challenges excuses and urges 10 minutes a day for self-care. Explore making movement a routine for physical and mental well-being. Embrace the challenge, share your experience, and commit to enhancing health and vitality in the new year.

The most common sentiment I encounter from people reaching out to me is, 'I don't have time.' It's the resounding mantra of modern life, a phrase that reverberates through our bustling routines. But let's break that down. When someone tells me they lack time, my immediate thought is 'Let's explore how many hours a day are spent glued to that smartphone. Perhaps we can carve out 10 minutes a day just for you.'

Here's the deal – getting started is tough. Taking that first step to establish a routine where 'me time' is a priority is a journey in itself. Whether it's 10 minutes or, ideally, 30, every moment counts. Because moving your body for 10 minutes a day trumps a sporadic hour once a week.

Now, I hear the chorus of reasons – 'Kids, sick parents, demanding jobs – life is complicated.' True, we all face myriad challenges. But let's delve deeper. Is it genuinely impossible to find 10 minutes for yourself, or is it a struggle to prioritise self-care? Waking up a tad earlier or stealing moments from lunch breaks might seem daunting initially but the payoff is immense. Trust me, the effort is worth it.

As humans we're masters at conjuring excuses – I'm guilty too! But we also possess an incredible ability to adapt to circumstances. So, why not channel that power for our collective physical and mental well-being?

As we stand on the cusp of a new year, a time when the promise of fresh beginnings beckons, I challenge you to challenge yourself. Pledge to enhance your physical activity routine in the upcoming year. Start small, a timeframe that won't disrupt your life but is consistent. Perhaps 5 or 10 minutes every day. Let it be an assortment of activities that bring you joy – a neighbourhood stroll, morning stretches, yoga or opting for a walk or cycle instead of your usual commute.

Remember, physical activity isn't confined to the gym; it's about weaving movement into your life. You'll be amazed at the profound impact a touch of daily movement can have on your physical and mental well-being.

If you take up the challenge, share your experience with me!

Here's to a Happy New Year and to unlocking a healthier, more vibrant you.

Warmest regards,
